Vampire Junction │ S. P. Somtow

"Vampire Junction" by S.P. Somtow is a remarkable novel.  It is the story of a twelve-year old rock star, Timmy Valentine, the idol of millions of young girls and boys, who is actually a 2,000 year-old vampire.  This book was first published in 1984.  It became immensely popular and influential, and, is considered by many to be ancestral to the Splatterpunk Movement in Gothic Literature.  "Vampire Junction" was voted one of "forty all-time greatest horror books" by the Horror Writers Association.  Somtow has written two sequels to "Vampire Junction", they are "Valentine", and "Vanitas".  To say anymore about this cool book would spoil its impact on the first-time reader.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Gothic Endyr, wherever you may be.

The Haunted Mansion │ Grim Grinning Ghosts

Cameron's Closet │ Scott Curtis

"Cameron's Closet" is sort of a sleeper movie.  It did not do too well when it was first released in 1988, but subsequently after it came out on  DVD, it turned into a cult hit.  Now with the advent of online video streaming, it has become a much watched movie.  Scott Curtis plays a very believable Cameron.  It's interesting though to watch Tab Hunter play the role of Cameron's father.  Some of you may remember Tab Hunter as a teen-idol from the 1950s.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Gothic Endyr, wherever you may be.

Климбатика │ Climbatica

Climbatica (Климбатика) is an incredible Gothic rock group from Orenburg, Russia, located about 1,478 km southeast of Moscow, and very close to the border with Kazakhstan.  Climbatica was started by Alex Belov and Wang Chaos in 2006, and since then they have been a cultural mainstay of the Russian Gothic music scene.  The music of Climbatica moves me greatly.  Even though the musicians and singers of Climbatica are quite young, their music has an unusual maturity and intensity.  It invokes all kinds of feelings on the part of the listener if you pay close attention to it.  In this edition of Gothic Endyr I am featuring Climbatica singing "Я не боюсь (I Am Not Afraid)".  Safe journeys to all the fans of Gothic Endyr, wherever you may be.

Phantasm │ Michael Baldwin

  

"Phantasm" is director Don Coscarelli's modern day horror classic.  It was first released in 1978 and has since attained the status of a cult classic.  "Phantasm" is an excellent film, and is a must see even for those who are not particularly interested in horror movies.  Mike, played by Michael Baldwin owns this movie.  The intensity that he puts into his acting is amazing.  I cannot imagine this movie without him.  Needless to say "Phantasm" is an essential DVD for movie collectors.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Gothic Endyr, wherever you may be.

Clownhouse │ Victor Salva

"Clownhouse" is director Victor Salva's controversial horror masterpiece.  Salva is that rare director who also writes the story, and the screenplay for his movies.  Some of you may recognize Salva's name from his other films such as the excellent "Powder", and "Jeepers Creepers".  By-the-way, the soundtrack to "Powder" which was composed by the late Jerry Goldsmith is a much sought after CD that sells for a high price, when you can find it online.  "Clownhouse" was released in 1988, and stars Nathan Forrest Winters as Casey.  It was Salva's relationship with Nathan that caused him to be arrested, charged with sexual offenses, and later imprisoned for fifteen months, in California.  In this edition of Gothic Endyr, we are presenting the trailer of "Clownhouse".  As trailers go, this is one of the best ever made as it gives a complete synopsis of the movie.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Gothic Endyr, wherever you may be.
